Creating Newsletters That Sell As Well As Inform
January 22, 2008 by kevinlynch3 · Leave a Comment
Running you own free Newsletter or Ezine can bring huge benefits to your website and profits. In this article, we will discuss how newsletters are one of the most important components for you to drive traffic to your website and build your online business.
The popularity of these newsletters is based on the need for information. The main reason people are online is because they want and need information and that is exactly what newsletters provide. Newsletters are mostly delivered via email, some however are delivered as HTML pages. Newsletters which are delivered as HTML pages still utilize email, as the webmaster will email subscribers notifying them that a new issue is ready.
There are many advantages of starting your own newsletter, however newsletters do require a bit of work to get started and maintain so they may not be for everyone.
The two main advantages are:
- Being able to maintain regular contact, and
- Being able to build a relationship with your subscribers
Newsletters allow you to maintain regular contact with your website visitors, this is vital to success, because rarely do people buy on there first visit, in fact people usually have to be exposed to an offer several times before they actually buy. A Newsletter allows you to keep the connection with your site visitors reminding them of how your product is suited for them.
Newsletters give you the “excuse” to send potential customers emails packed with articles and off course your sales message. Newsletters are great for building trust and relationships online, if your newsletter provides regular quality content which your subscribers can really use, they will begin to trust your opinion and also they will begin to feel that they know you. This is important as developing relationships is vital for any business.
The other, often overlooked, advantage of having a newsletter, is the income it can generate, not from selling your products and services but from selling advertising space in it. You do need a medium to large subscriber base before other businesses will be interested in advertising but this is not that hard to achieve, especially if it is regularly full of quality content. You can earn a few hundred every month just from ads if you play your cards rights.
Your online customers will eventually become your offline customers if they trust the information you regularly send them. Put simply, a newsletter is your way of helping people. If you help people online, eventually they will buy from you.
However, running your own newsletter involves considerable amount of work. It is vital that you regularly write a lot of quality content before your next send-out. Besides, ideally a newsletter should be sent out every week or at least every fortnight. This is not always easy. In fact it’s never easy; the next thing that adds to your work load when it comes to newsletters is maintaining your email addresses. Many of the email addresses may be wrong. Maintaining a list of working email addresses is crucial.
In conclusion, running your own newsletter can have a very positive impact on your website and online business. If you wish to see the full potential of your newsletter, be prepared for a considerable amount of work. If you dedicate yourself to keeping it up, you will find it well worth the effort.
Great Content- Even if You Can’t Write!
January 17, 2008 by Karen · Leave a Comment
So what if you are not a writer? Can’t string together a proper sentence? Not too inclined to write anything?
How can you get content for your newsletter, e-zine or blog?
Well, no worries! I am going to share with you a few very valuable techniques about how you can legally get some great content without writing.
One way you can get some absolutely awesome content is to conduct an interview with an expert. Most people love free publicity so often all you have to do is ask. You can do an interview in person, on the phone, skype or even just writing emails back and forth. Ask the pertinent questions and get the answers!
Another great way to legally get some great content is by using content from the “public domain”.
“Public Domain” simply means any content that is no longer protected under the US copyright laws.
This includes everything published prior to 1923 and under certain conditions, works published up to 1978.
There is a wealth of wonderful information available to you in the Public domain and all you have to do is a little research.
Another source of great information is Private Label rights content. This is content that you are given total access too when you purchase it from the author. Depending upon the terms and conditions you can sometimes make amendments to it and change it to make it yours. However, the terms are different for each purchase so check out your source. There are many free membership sites out there that offer private label rights. There are many different sources, so just do a little research. You can find some great content.
Another source that works well for an ezine is article marketing sites such as Ezine Articles. This is articles that others have written in order to get some publicity for themselves. Most of the time the articles will have links back to the authors site so make sure you leave the links in there. It’s a small price to pay for having great content!
If you have any questions about getting great content, just leave a comment here and we’ll get back to you!
Advertise In Newsletters And Ezines
January 14, 2008 by kevinlynch3 · Leave a Comment
I will discuss advertising in other companies’ newsletters and how it can be as equally beneficial.
By advertising in other newsletters, you can reach an audience which is highly targeted and cost effective. Moreover, you can never be accused of spamming as all the recipients have subscribed to the newsletter.
There are so many newsletters out there covering so many different topics that it’s easy to find highly targeted ones to advertise in. So if you’ve matched the newsletter to the product you’re selling, you’ve reached your target audience to a tee.
Almost all newsletters are archived, thousands of people read these archives, and your ad will be seen by these people at no extra cost. This can bring in exposure and extra sales on a long term basis. Besides, newsletter publishers may have already developed a trust between themselves and their readers. Just by placing your ad in the newsletter, it’s more likely to be read because it appears in a publication they like and trust.
Newsletter advertising is not only effective, it’s cheap as well. A 5 line ad in a newsletter that goes to 3000 people will cost you between $5 and $25 per issue. With so little risk involved, this is definitely worth it.
Buying Ads in Other Newsletters and Ezines
Just as you can sell advertising, you can also buy advertising in newsletters. You can use those ads to promote your business or to invite people who read newsletters to read your own.
Again, you have to pick your partners carefully. There’s no point just picking a newsletter with the cheapest rates; you want to make sure you choose an outlet that appeals to the same buyers as you. You also need to think about where your ad is going to be placed. In general, the higher the position the better. And the more the merrier too.
Don’t expect a huge response from a single ad. It’s always best to think of advertising in terms of a campaign. You’ll get a better deal—and better results—if you reserve an advertising slot for four or five issues than if you buy them one at a time.

B. Market Your Online Business For Less
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Business can get expensive. If you are like most people
starting an online business you may quickly find your
savings tapped and your credit cards maxed. That is,
unless you know how to market your online business for
free - or nearly free.
There are many ways to market your business, but not
all methods deliver the same results to every business.
While you learn your way around the online business
world it makes sense to start with the cheap or free
methods of marketing before spending a lot of money on
a system that will not work for you.
Here are three methods for marketing your business for
little or no cost. Some will work better than others
and some will take longer to show results. Find out the
costs as well as the Pros and Cons of each method.
MARKETING METHOD ONE: TRAFFIC EXCHANGES
Traffic exchanges are very popular for new online
businesses. They can be free or charge a monthly fee.
The way they work is that each member views other
members websites, usually for a specified period of
time, to build credits. Their sites will then be
displayed to other members depending on the number of
websites they have viewed.
PRO: Usually free. Lots of traffic quickly.
CON: Traffic is not targeted so usually works better
for businesses that appeal to a wide audience. Viewing
other members websites is time consuming.
MARKETING METHOD TWO: ONLINE FORUMS
Forums are online communities that discuss specific
topics. There are forums (or discussion groups) on just
about any topic you can think of. You can find these by
doing a search for ‘forum’ and your topic. Or you can
go to Google and search the Groups for your key word or
phrase. Forums are usually free to join.
Most forums do not allow commercial solicitations. The
focus is on exchanging information. Be prepared to add
useful comments to the discussion and follow the posted
rules. You may be allowed to attach a signature to your
comments. Put your website in the signature to attract
the search engine spiders and send visitors to your
site. Develop a reputation as an expert on your topic
and give free advice when possible to build
credibility.
PRO: Targeted traffic. Builds credibility
CON: Have to be careful not to be labeled as “spam”.
Must spend time answering questions and posting
comments. Depending on where you post and what you say
you may or may not see a lot of traffic initially.
MARKETING METHOD THREE: NEWSLETTERS
Start your own newsletter right away. While this does
not bring traffic to your site it does take advantage
of the visitors who do come. The code for collecting
emails can often be obtained from your host provider
for free or an autoresponder service which is free or
paid depending on your service.
Have a place for visitors to enter their email address
and name. Send them a free report or email once a week
with tips or news about your topic. This will permit
you to build a relationship with prospects as well as
grant you permission to contact them again with your
offer. It often takes up to seven contacts before a
prospect will buy, so don’t let them leave without
getting their email!
PRO: Permits you to contact interested prospects again.
Builds relationship with customers and potential
customers.
CON: Effort is needed to provide quality information on
a regular basis. Does not attract new visitors.
Each of the marketing strategies outlined above are
proven to work. What works best for you and your
business will depend on various factors such as; what
your business is, what time you can spend marketing and
what information you can provide. Start using two or
all three of these methods and you will be creating a
solid marketing foundation for your business.
Sincerely,
